Sustainable Steel Visualization

The challenge: Explain an entire industrial process — from ore to recycled steel — to a general audience in a single glance, without sacrificing scientific accuracy.

The approach: I broke the steel lifecycle into modular scenes — extraction, reduction, steelmaking, manufacturing, recycling — and connected them with directional flows the eye can follow intuitively. Renewable energy and hydrogen-based reduction are woven directly into the industrial landscape, so the sustainability story isn't an add-on, it is the visual.

The result: A single illustration that makes a complex, multi-stage process legible at first glance — used to engage the public with materials science and the institute's work on low-carbon steel production.
